Define 'User Experience'. What does it mean and how does it relate to web design?

According to Google, user experience is "the overall experience of a person using a product such as a website or computer application, especially in terms of how easy or pleasing it is to use". I think user experience is a term used to describe what a person thinks of your website; not just certain parts but the website as a whole. It relates to web design because it is important to keep in mind what kind of user experience you want your audience to have. You want to make a website that is not only pleasing to the eye but that functions and works in every way. A well-rounded website would result in a good user experience.
